The experience

Help buyers get from browsing to a shortlist.

The vehicle is the reason people come. I focused the experience on search, useful listing information and clear routes to the seller, while retaining the personality of an enthusiast marketplace. The original screens show that balance of practical detail and automotive character.

My contribution

Design the selling side, too.

I shaped the Place Ad flow and advertiser tools alongside the buyer journey, building on Doghouse’s initial information architecture. Research, scenarios and testing helped us question the flows; the 2018 UX review revisited the experience after the original redesign.

A shared foundation

Keep the network coherent.

Managing the team’s work meant making the system as clear as the screens. I organised the files and UI kit around reusable controls, messages and content tiles, giving the specialist sites a common foundation across devices.

What it enabled

A marketplace system, beyond individual pages.

The work gave the network a connected set of buyer and advertiser journeys, supported by a reusable UI kit. It connected the craft of the interface with the practical needs of buyers, advertisers and the team maintaining it.

Bruno Souza, Head of Development at Just Auto, praised the team’s communication, understanding of user pain points and ability to work like an embedded design team.
