At Canva, I help teams make creative tools and AI work together in ways that make sense to people. I like starting with the real need, then working with others to make the complicated feel simple.

I helped shape an experience that brings the context people already have in other tools into Canva AI, so they can create without starting from scratch. I coached the early vision, brought designers together, and helped turn launch feedback into decisions.

2024–2026An app can be useful in more than one place in Canva. I helped shape a shared model for bringing the right capability into the moment someone needs it.

2024In 2024, I led design work for Apps SDK v2 as apps began to move beyond the editor. We wanted them to work naturally in more of Canva, including Docs.

2022Before Canva, I led a five-day design sprint at Gumtree. We explored what buying online might feel like, from paying for an item to getting it delivered.
Read my part in the storyAs Canva’s tools grew, I saw a chance to make them easier for other products and AI to work with. I helped shape API Everywhere with product and engineering partners, bringing teams together around what to expose, who would look after it, and how to support it over time.
Good foundations make it easier for more people to build on Canva.
I helped set the direction, explain the work across teams and co-develop lifecycle guidance. The questions were practical: how do teams discover an API, take ownership, launch it well and keep improving it?
Still curious. Still making.I’m Juan Córdoba, a product design leader at Canva. These days I work across creative tools, platforms and AI, helping teams make complicated things easier to use.
I started out in graphic design, making icons, and eventually found my way to Australia. Since then, I’ve worked in entertainment, marketplaces and creative platforms. Every move has taught me something new about how people make things and how good teams bring ideas to life.
I still care about the small details of an interface, and the bigger systems that make those details work. I like helping people find a clear direction, then getting hands-on and making something real.
Lately, I’ve been sketching ideas for independent products with AI. I’m still learning, testing and looking for the right problems to spend time on.

2015–2016My work on Foxtel Go began with a familiar question: how do you help someone find something good to watch?
I worked on the redesign across mobile, tablet and desktop. We focused on discovery, more relevant search, and making it easy to pick up where you left off. Workshops, prototypes and testing helped us shape the experience.
2016At Just Auto, I worked on marketplace experiences across the network’s different sites.
This is an early piece from my portfolio, shown here as it was originally presented.
2018–2019At Lysn, I helped rethink how people find mental health support and how practitioners manage their work.
The 2019 redesign explored onboarding, matching, profiles and consultation concepts, alongside a shared design system.
